But, on Halloween morning I enjoyed some tasty grape jelly with homemade sprouted spelt bread. Spelt grains are Manitoban and the jelly was very local before I imported it with me from Ontario.. thank you Mads (she has vines growing in the garden)!
I had biked around to a special store to get these little caramel-filled chocolate pumpkins for the little beasts and scary princesses.. it was very exciting! But as I didn't decorate the garden, kids kept passing by our door, sniff. Eventually a few groups of kids came to ask for a trick or a treat. Some had really made effort on decorating their costumes, but there was the disappointing story as well.. one fellow came with his parents in a car driving from door to door, his mom came with a plastic bag to ask for candy as he was too scared to come out.. was there a dude in there anyways?
Hello Maija
ReplyDeleteI just finished writing on my blog, and I clicked ''next blog'' and landed on yours. I have a feeling it was fate! I'm an Ontario Canadian on a Rotary exchange right now in Mexico (or as I learned to write it in Finnish the other day, Meksiko). The other exchange student in my school and in my city is Ilari from Finland/Suomi! Are you in Manitoba on exchange right now? And...you are finnish right? Haha I'm pretty sure that's what your writing in!! If you are Finnish and on exchange, this is a pretty wild coincidence!

Hi Eli, yes, I am Finnish and I am in Manitoba, not really on exchange though. This blog doesn't have any deeper purpose and is directed to my family in Finland and friends in Ontario, so it is probably not of great interest to people who don't know me. Thanks for stopping by anyways and have a good exchange in Mexico.

I enjoyed your photos and your blog! It is unique! BLOG MORE!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a coincidence. I could add a small contribution to the coincidences here, though not as startling as Eli's and yours. But, until just a couple weeks ago, I had never really given a thought to Finland in my entire life (and I'm 40). No offense meant here, but the closest I have ever been is Stockholm and I knew little about Finland other than where it is on the map. However, a couple days ago I just finished reading a novel that takes place in the Lapland, Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name, by Vida Vendela, and now I've run across your blog. I wonder if this means that Finland is about to play some part in my life? Hmmmm. Interesting. Looks like you are embracing Canada. If you read novels in English, I would be interested to hear what you think about this novel, written by an American and set in your country.
